Mikko Hyppönen predicts upcoming AI-powered malware campaigns.

Mikko Hyppönen, a cybersecurity pioneer with over 30 years of experience, has noted that the cybersecurity industry remains strong amid recessionary pressures affecting the tech sector. Hyppönen revealed that “there’s a steady need for security”, as cybersecurity remains a growth business with a demand for new hires that appears unaffected by recessionary trends. Although the industry has matured, analysts project that cybersecurity will generate around $162bn in revenue in 2023, with more than three dozen firms boasting a total market cap of over $624bn. Hyppönen commented that there is also growing room for new cybersecurity entrants based on new technologies such as machine learning. He noted that “you don’t have to be able to detect all the possible attacks we’ve always seen. It’s enough if you can detect anomalies, that something weird is happening, something unusual, something which doesn’t happen normally”.
