As the leader of the Human Security Risk team at Fidelity International, Katie’s job role focuses on the human aspects of cyber and information security. Katie’s journey into the cybersecurity industry began after the birth of her first child when she sought flexibility to work part-time. Fidelity International supported her career change into the information security team, providing her with the opportunity to retrain in a new field. Despite facing a significant learning curve, Katie found the experience enjoyable and rewarding.

One of the biggest challenges Katie has faced as a woman in the tech/cyber industry is balancing work and family life, especially after transitioning careers while her children were young. With the support of her company, which allowed her to work part-time and grow her career, Katie also relied on her determination, setting realistic expectations, and building a strong support network to manage the balance effectively.

In terms of supporting other women and increasing diversity in the tech/cyber industry, Katie actively contributes to Fidelity International’s Women in Cyber community. The organization hosts events, collaborates with schools to promote cybersecurity, and mentors graduates, offering career guidance. By supporting recruitment from returner programs and implementing Early Careers programs, Fidelity International fosters diversity, fresh perspectives, and skills within the cybersecurity department. Additionally, mentoring opportunities and initiatives like mentoring circles for Women in Technology roles further promote diversity and inclusion.

Throughout her career, Katie has been inspired by strong female line managers who have shaped her professional development significantly. Their guidance, encouragement, and support have been instrumental in her growth. Katie acknowledges the importance of having role models and mentors in one’s career, citing her current line manager as a supportive figure who values diversity within the cybersecurity industry.

In conclusion, Katie Beecroft’s recognition as one of the Most Inspiring Women in Cyber for 2025 is a testament to her dedication, resilience, and commitment to promoting cybersecurity awareness and diversity within the industry. Her journey exemplifies the importance of support, mentorship, and championing women in technology roles.
