OpenText™, a leading information management solutions company, has announced its appointment as a member of the U.S. Government public-private cybersecurity initiative, Joint Cyber Defense Collaborative (JCDC). The JCDC, established by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), is committed to enhancing the cybersecurity posture of the U.S. government and its strategic international partners.

Mark Barrenechea, OpenText CEO and CTO, expressed the company’s honor in joining the JCDC and contributing to its mission of bolstering the cybersecurity of the U.S. government and its allies. He emphasized that OpenText’s threat intelligence capabilities and insights will complement the efforts of other JCDC members and create a more secure and resilient cyber ecosystem in support of mission.

As a JCDC member, OpenText will play a vital role in supporting the collaborative effort’s mission to shift the paradigm from reacting to threats and vulnerabilities to proactively planning and mitigating them. This proactive approach aims to strengthen the government’s security management practices, essential for safeguarding sensitive data from threat actors.

OpenText will provide valuable support to cyber defenders by offering a wealth of knowledge and experience through its BrightCloud® threat intelligence telemetry, which offers visibility into the behaviors and activities of threat actors across SMBs, consumers, and enterprises. This unique consumer angle complements the overall mission, as targeted attacks frequently extend to family members and friends of high-value assets as a way to get to the desired target.

In addition, OpenText will introduce active risk intelligence through its cyDNA solution, which tracks threat actors in the early stages of their attack lifecycle. This proactive approach enables the identification of potential threats before they gain initial access, providing crucial situational awareness to halt attackers before they achieve their objectives.

Addressing the critical aspect of securing software supply chains, OpenText’s Debricked solution will provide threat intelligence on open-source code, empowering developers to make informed decisions and minimize the introduction of risks into their development environments. This initiative aligns with JCDC’s overarching goal of creating resilience within software supply chains.

OpenText’s commitment also extends to supporting CISA analysts and global cyber defenders by actively sharing threat intelligence, including behaviors and indicators, to enhance overall threat hunting efforts. This knowledge transfer fosters a deeper understanding of evolving threats within the threat intelligence community.

Kevin E. Greene, of OpenText Cybersecurity, expressed how partnering with the JCDC provides OpenText the opportunity to help anchor and elevate cyber defense for the nation. As a former DHS alum, he emphasized the honor of being the partner lead for OpenText as they join forces with the JCDC to disrupt adversarial activities with relentless resilience through early warning capabilities and actionable threat intelligence.
