Six Major Security Vendors Experience Valuation Surge Following Introduction of Anthropic’s Mythos

In a notable shift within the cybersecurity landscape, six prominent security vendors have seen their valuations double since the arrival of Anthropic’s advanced artificial intelligence model, referred to as Mythos. This surge, which has gained momentum over the past six months, underscores the increasing importance of AI in cybersecurity solutions.

CrowdStrike and Palo Alto Networks, having entered Anthropic’s Project Glasswing collective defense initiative early, have reaped significant benefits. Their stock prices reflected this windfall, earning the second and fourth-largest gains among a group of 15 cybersecurity vendors analyzed since the announcement of Claude Mythos on April 7, 2026.

However, the standout in this post-Mythos valuation race is Okta, the leading platform for identity management. Although the San Francisco-based company did not join the Project Glasswing until May 27, it has witnessed an extraordinary stock price increase of 130.7% since the debut of Mythos, bringing its valuation to a staggering $32 billion. The surge is attributed to Okta’s pivotal role in managing identities for AI agents—each AI agent an organization deploys requires a distinct identity. This aspect positions Okta as a pivotal player in the security landscape as investment opportunities in pure-play identity markets become increasingly competitive, especially following Palo Alto Networks’ acquisition of CyberArk.

As the sector witnesses a proliferation of autonomous agents, the allure of Okta’s technology is heightened. Investors view Okta’s rapid growth as a crucial indicator of expected investments in AI security, emphasizing the belief that identity management will play a key role in the evolving security paradigm.

Snowflake, the sole hybrid security vendor that ranks among the top five companies in stock price gains post-Mythos, has also caught attention. As organizations increasingly seek robust data layers to enable AI operations, Snowflake’s offerings fit neatly into this emerging demand.

The rapid advancements made in frontier and open-weight AI models underscore the rising value of platforms that own or can provide access to the contextual data required for effective AI functioning. As companies strive to possess, integrate, and manage contextual data efficiently, the demand for advanced security technologies grows in parallel.

Rounding out the crests of stock price gains is Fortinet, which has seen its valuation reach $124.1 billion, an increase of 102% since the announcement date. Fortinet’s comprehensive offering—integrating firewall, Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN), and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) functionalities into a single operating system—sets it apart in the competitive landscape. Recently, the company has also consolidated six security operational functions into a unified console, indicating a clear trend towards integration and efficiency. The proprietary hardware powering Fortinet’s technology adds an additional layer of resilience against third-party vulnerabilities.

Conversely, Check Point Software, a key player in network security, presents a stark contrast to the success enjoyed by its peers. As the only cyber vendor to experience a decline in stock price following the Mythos announcement, Check Point has struggled to convert its substantial investments into tangible revenue growth, with only a modest 1% rise in total revenue and a mere 12% increase in security subscriptions. Despite a broad array of offerings, Check Point has not achieved a dominant market position akin to that of Palo Alto Networks. Buyers are increasingly drawn to vendors demonstrating ownership of core technological elements—be it silicon, networks, or overarching platforms—which Check Point has yet to convincingly assert.

In the cloud security domain, Cloudflare made headlines in May with substantial layoffs affecting one-fifth of its workforce, causing investor jitters. Despite these concerns, the company’s stock price has soared nearly 50% since the unveiling of Mythos, now valued at approximately $115 million. Cloudflare’s position on the network facilitates its offerings across security, performance, and AI at the network’s edge, aligning with modern enterprise security demands focusing on zero-trust architecture.

Zscaler, initially experiencing a sluggish start to 2026, has also regained its footing since the Mythos announcement, reporting a stock increase of 40% and a valuation of $32.5 billion. However, Zscaler’s organic growth sits at 20%, far overshadowed by growth in competitors like Cloudflare, which experienced a remarkable sales increase of 36%. This contrasts with Zscaler’s focus on zero trust, raising questions about its future growth avenues.

As unsubstantiated fears surrounding frontier labs potentially overshadowing standalone security vendors recede, an optimistic outlook is emerging. The consensus suggests that established security vendors may serve as crucial barriers against the chaos that could ensue from rapid AI advancements. Yet, not all security vendors find themselves in equal standing. A significant portion of new investment is directed towards three leading vendors—Palo Alto Networks, CrowdStrike, and Fortinet—leaving others to vie for a diminishing pie.

In conclusion, the dynamics surrounding AI and cybersecurity are shifting, with leading vendors substantially enhancing their market positions amid growing investment. As organizations increasingly prioritize robust security solutions in an AI-dominated landscape, the classified advantages enjoyed by prominent firms could set the stage for defining the future of cybersecurity.
