The International Cyber Expo has revealed the schedule for its annual Global Cyber Summit, set to take place on September 26th and 27th, 2023, at Olympia London. Sponsored by Sonatype, OpenText, and Infoblox, the summit promises to be even more internationally focused this year, with a particular emphasis on the Ukrainian perspective in light of recent geopolitical events.
The Global Cyber Summit brings together some of the foremost experts in the industry to discuss ongoing cyber threats, priorities, and challenges. One of the highlights of this year’s program is the inclusion of advisors closely associated with Ukrainian government agencies. They will provide invaluable insights into the reality and impact of Russian cyber attacks on Ukraine and beyond. These presentations aim to give attendees a unique perspective on the current state of cyber security.
Among the special guest speakers is Oksana Kharchenko, a member of YouControl, a team of Ukrainian developers who create services for business analysis. Kharchenko will focus on the challenges of managing sanctions risk in the current geopolitical climate. Andrew Hural, the Director of MDR at UnderDefense, a prominent cyber security company offering pro bono services to Ukrainian government entities, will reflect on the last 500 days of Russian cyber operations, assessing their successes and failures in espionage.
In addition to the Ukrainian perspective, the Global Cyber Summit will cover several globally pertinent subjects. Renowned experts in the field will delve into a range of topics. Nicola Whiting MBE, co-owner of Titania Group, will discuss why diversity and inclusion efforts might be stalling and present a new framework. Theresa Deumchen, Tech Policy Associate at Global Counsel, will examine the regulatory landscape concerning generative AI. Alexander Gorkowienko, SecurityLabs Senior Managing Consultant at Spirent Communications, will explain how EU security regulations like the NIS 2 Directive might impact businesses across the region.
Other speakers include Jake Moore, Global Cyber Security Advisor at ESET, who will shed light on his attempt to manipulate recruitment staff in order to gain unauthorized access to company data. Stewart Bertram, Head of Cyber Threat Intelligence at Elemendar, will explore the link between misinformation and cyber threat operations. Rashik Parmar, Group CEO of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, and Dr Saritha Arunkumar, IBM Public Cloud Worldwide Technical Leader – Security, will discuss the implications of the rise of AI and quantum computing for the future of cyber security. Charlotte Hooper, Helpline Manager at The Cyber Helpline, will highlight the impact of cybercrime on individuals and strategies for support.
Attendees of the Global Cyber Summit will also have the opportunity to attend talks at the co-located International Security Expo. Joel Aleburu from Microsoft will discuss the role of cyber espionage in terrorist activities, while Joe Wrieden, an Intelligence Analyst at Cyjax, will assess the role of Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs) in serious and organized crime.
Philip Ingram MBE, former senior British Military Intelligence Officer and Content Lead for International Cyber Expo, expressed his excitement about the summit’s agenda. He emphasized the event’s success since its launch last year and the impressive lineup of speakers covering timely topics such as AI and quantum computing, as well as the Ukrainian experience amid the Russian invasion. Ingram also highlighted the unique opportunity for attendees to explore the interconnectedness of cyber and physical security issues, considering the presence of the International Security Expo in the same venue.
