In exchange for restoring access, the group has demanded a ransom of $23,000. Users visiting Linktera’s website, however, do not see any visible signs of a data breach or cyber attack. It is possible that the compromise lies in the website’s backend or databases.
Ransomed VC has made their ransom demand public, emphasizing the need for payment to regain control over Linktera’s systems. In addition, their message on the dark web channel reveals that Linktera has a revenue figure of $21.2 million, which highlights the potential impact of this breach on the company.
To shed light on the situation, The Cyber Express reached out to Linktera for an official statement. Unfortunately, as of the time of writing, no response has been received, leaving the claims of the data breach unconfirmed.
The identity and motivations of the Ransomed VC hacker group remain largely unknown. They operate primarily in hacking forums, targeting prominent companies and employing a unique extortion tactic involving European GDPR laws. GDPR fines can be substantial, ranging from $10,000,000 or 2% of a company’s annual revenue for minor infractions, to $20,000,000 or 4% of annual revenue for serious violations.
