RSA has recently introduced enhanced phishing-resistant, passwordless capabilities to cater to the needs of financial services organizations, government agencies, healthcare, and other highly-regulated industries. These new RSA capabilities are designed to protect these industries from the most common and impactful attacks, ensuring compliance with the strictest cybersecurity regulations and playing a crucial role in the advancement of Zero Trust security architecture.
One of the key offerings from RSA is the FIDO2 Certified RSA Authenticator App 4.5 for iOS and Android. This app allows organizations to easily deploy FIDO2-Certified device-bound passkeys on users’ mobile devices through RSA ID Plus. By incorporating this new capability, organizations can streamline the provisioning of phishing-resistant multi-factor authentication (MFA), enhance the user experience, eliminate the need for passwords, SMS, and OTP, and accelerate their journey towards achieving Zero Trust maturity. The RSA Authenticator App 4.5 is now available to the general public.
Furthermore, RSA has introduced the RSA iShield Key 2 Series, in collaboration with Swissbit, to help organizations advance their Zero Trust maturity. This hardware authenticator series features support for FIDO2, PIV, HOTP, and is equipped with a FIPS 140-3 certified cryptographic module. These authenticators comply with Executive Order 14028, OMB M-22-09, and OMB M-24-14, aiding both the public and private sector in simplifying and securing credential management. The RSA iShield Key 2 series is currently available for order and is being shipped out to customers.
In addition to these product innovations, RSA plays a pivotal role in shaping the passwordless agenda and ensuring that the FIDO standard effectively secures workplace authentication. As a board member of the FIDO Alliance and a participant in several working groups within the alliance, including the Enterprise Deployment Working Group and the Security & Privacy Requirements Working Group, RSA is dedicated to driving FIDO adoption across various use cases and organizations.
Rohit Ghai, the CEO of RSA, emphasized the importance of phishing-resistant authentication in the face of modern data breaches. He stated, “RSA Authenticator App 4.5 and the RSA iShield Key 2 series build on decades of security-first leadership and innovation in authentication. While multi-factor authentication is essential, it is not sufficient; organizations require phishing-resistant authentication to safeguard their operations against advanced threats.”
Andrew Shikiar, Executive Director & CEO of FIDO Alliance, commended RSA for its contribution to the development of enterprise-friendly authentication standards within the FIDO Alliance. He highlighted the significance of RSA’s FIDO Certified RSA Authenticator App 4.5 for iOS and Android in meeting the authentication requirements of the workforce and applauded RSA’s commitment to delivering user-friendly, phishing-resistant solutions.
The RSA Authenticator App 4.5 and the RSA iShield Key 2 series are equipped with additional ID Plus capabilities that set them apart from other solutions in the market. These include cross-environment passwordless support, secure credential recovery, RSA Mobile Lock for device integrity assurance, and RSA Risk AI for simplified authentication through machine learning and behavioral analytics.
Overall, RSA’s latest enhancements in phishing-resistant, passwordless capabilities signify a significant step towards ensuring robust cybersecurity measures in highly regulated industries and advancing the implementation of Zero Trust security principles. With a strong focus on innovation and collaboration within the FIDO Alliance, RSA continues to play a crucial role in shaping the future of authentication and cybersecurity.
