Phoenix, Arizona, September 24th, 2026, CyberNewswire — The landscape of cybersecurity sales for managed service providers (MSPs) is evolving, thanks to the launch of SCOUTz, a prospect intelligence platform now available in open beta. This innovative tool aims to equip MSPs with crucial insights about potential clients, enabling them to engage more effectively during initial meetings.

SCOUTz functions as a comprehensive intelligence platform, providing MSPs with dated evidence regarding a prospect’s environment prior to their first interaction. This ensures that the information stays relevant throughout the delivery and reassessment phases, thereby fostering a coherent narrative for MSPs to carry into discussions with potential clients. The platform is currently accessible in open beta through its website, allowing interested participants to explore its features at no cost for the first 30 days after the workspace is provisioned. Following the initial period, a subscription fee of $279 per month becomes applicable.

The insights offered by SCOUTz are drawn from collaboration with fifty MSPs across three distinct peer communities, who contributed to the platform’s development in a closed beta phase before its public unveiling. This collaboration has resulted in a tool that not only facilitates the initial appointment—often a challenge in the competitive MSP arena—but also provides resources that are beneficial post-agreement, such as professional services automation (PSA) and remote monitoring and management (RMM) platforms.

Mad struggles often occur between securing an initial appointment and negotiating a signed contract, a gap traditionally bridged by templates and the seller’s subjective preparation. SCOUTz aims to close this gap. Prior to meetings, the platform combines public data, such as new company locations and recent IT hires, with its own verified external evidence. This dual layer of intelligence helps MSPs understand the significance of an account and formulate insightful questions, enhancing their ability to connect with prospects meaningfully.

One of SCOUTz’s standout features is its domain review process, which operates without requiring an agent, installation, or user login. This comprehensive review evaluates crucial security components such as email authentication, certificates, subdomains, exposed services, and up to 156 individual checks sourced from a live evidence registry. Each of these checks includes a detailed explanation and a suggested next step, ensuring that the findings prompt informed discussions rather than presenting an incomplete picture.

In an effort to maintain transparency and respect user privacy, SCOUTz engages in read-only examinations of Microsoft 365 configurations, contingent on obtaining consent from the prospect. This process involves reviewing identity settings, application permissions, security parameters, and managed-device contexts without accessing emails, documents, or any other sensitive files.

Each finding generated through SCOUTz is meticulously traced to a specific dated check and named evidence source, assuring that "clean" scores are never assigned arbitrarily. This thoroughness extends to providing remediation guides, actionable work plans, and ticket-ready text, enhancing an MSP’s capacity to address vulnerabilities. A rescan function also allows for a comparison of new findings against a pinned baseline, ensuring that quarterly reviews reflect substantial changes.

The platform generates two types of reports based on its findings: a client-safe report suitable for business owners and a technical edition for operator teams. This separation allows for tailored communication that effectively meets the needs of different audiences.

Steve Copeland, the founder of SCOUTz and CEO of RYTHMz, highlighted a significant gap in the tools available to MSPs. He noted, “There are many tools and companies out there that help secure the first meeting. However, none prepare the MSP with relevant knowledge about the business before entering that room.” Drawing upon his own experiences establishing two MSPs, Copeland understood the value of entering meetings fully informed and prepared to engage, thus enhancing the likelihood of positive outcomes.

Importantly, SCOUTz is designed with limitations that intentionally prevent it from modeling potential financial losses due to hypothetical data breaches. By focusing on providing clear, actionable insights rather than fostering a fear-based narrative, SCOUTz seeks to maintain healthy relationships between MSPs and their clients. “Fear might get you a meeting, but it can compromise the relationship,” said Copeland. “Our aim is to show business owners what was checked, what was found, and when, empowering them to make informed decisions.”

Feedback from participants in the closed beta has been overwhelmingly positive; one participant, Zach Kinder, who serves as President and Partner at Net-Tech Consulting in El Paso, Texas, expressed a desire for SCOUTz to have been available during a recent meeting he attended. “Man, I wish I had this in the meeting I just walked out of,” he remarked, underscoring the platform’s practical value.

SCOUTz was developed only nine months after Copeland published his business book, "The 3AM Test for MSPs," which centers around evidence-based selling for managed service providers. Additionally, a free score tool is accessible on the SCOUTz website, allowing users to evaluate their own environments without requiring a signup.

In summary, SCOUTz represents a significant advancement in security sales intelligence for managed service providers. By ensuring that MSPs are equipped with the necessary insights ahead of client interactions, the platform not only streamlines the sales process but also enhances the overall reliability and professionalism with which MSPs engage their clients. This commitment to factual, evidence-based selling is set to redefine the standards in cybersecurity sales while fostering stronger, more informed client relationships.
