Kanguru Introduces New Hardware-Based Internal Self-Encrypting Drives to Enhance Data Security

Kanguru, a leading provider of secure data storage solutions, has launched a new line of security products designed to help organizations protect sensitive data on laptops, tablets, and computers. The latest offering from Kanguru includes high-performance solid state drives known as Self-Encrypting Drives (SEDs), which are specifically tailored to meet the stringent security requirements of government agencies, the Department of Defense, healthcare providers, the military, the energy sector, and other security-focused organizations.

The Kanguru Defender SEDs are equipped with full military-grade AES 256-bit hardware encryption and are certified with FIPS 140-2 standards on select models. These drives also feature digitally-signed secure firmware and comply with TCG Opal architecture standards to ensure robust protection of data at rest. Kanguru’s commitment to trusted supply chains is evident in the Defender SED portfolio, which is fully compliant with the Trade Agreements Act (TAA).

One of the key advantages of these self-encrypting internal drives is their hardware-based encryption approach, which automatically locks down the entire drive when powered off, including the Operating System, not just specific files or folders. This significantly reduces the risk of performance bottlenecks and vulnerabilities associated with software-only encryption solutions.

To cater to diverse security needs, requirements, and budgets, Kanguru has introduced four new internal drives in the Kanguru Defender Line:
– Defender SED30 NVMe SSD
– Defender SED300 NVMe SSD, FIPS 140-2 Certified
– Defender SED300 SATA SSD, FIPS 140-2 Certified
– Defender SED300 NVMe SSD, FIPS 140-2 Certified with Data Defense by CIGENT

In addition to providing top-tier security features and TAA Compliance, Kanguru Self-Encrypting SEDs deliver high-speed performance. The Defender SED30 NVMe SSD boasts Sequential Read speeds of up to 7200MB/s and Sequential Write speeds of up to 6500MB/s, making it an ideal choice for commercial organizations seeking a cost-effective data security solution priced at $199.95 for the 1TB capacity drive.

Furthermore, Kanguru Defender SEDs offer ample data storage options, with the Defender SED30 available in capacities ranging from 1TB to 8TB, while the Defender SED300 NVMe, SATA, and CIGENT bundled models come in capacities from 500GB to 2TB.

Another notable feature of Kanguru SEDs is the onboard management interface known as the Defender Commander, which provides administrators with key information about the drive, including drive details, lock status, and drive management. Kanguru has also collaborated with CIGENT Technology to develop a specialized option bundled with a Common Criteria Certified Pre-Boot Authentication application for organizations that require stringent security compliance.

For organizations looking to implement large-scale provisioning, Kanguru offers duplication solutions supported by the Defender Commander provisioning tool for smaller deployments and their expertise in hard drive duplication equipment for volume deployments. Kanguru’s range of hard drive/solid state drive and NVMe duplicators are tailored to meet the specific needs of organizations requiring efficient data duplication solutions.

Overall, Kanguru’s latest line of Self-Encrypting Drives demonstrates a continued commitment to enhancing data security for organizations operating in high-risk environments, ensuring that sensitive information is protected against unauthorized access and potential breaches.
