IndiaAI, a subdivision of the Digital India Corporation under the Ministry of Electronics and IT, is leading the charge in the IndiaAI Mission, aimed at democratizing the benefits of AI across all sectors and strengthening India’s global leadership in AI technology. One of the key initiatives under this mission is the IndiaAI Application Development Initiative (IADI), which focuses on promoting AI applications that can drive socio-economic transformation in various sectors.

In partnership with the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), a Ministry of Home Affairs initiative that assists law enforcement agencies in combating cybercrime, IndiaAI is launching the IndiaAI CyberGuard AI Hackathon. This hackathon is designed to address the escalating threat of cybercrime by leveraging advanced AI technologies to enhance cybersecurity measures. The goal is to encourage innovators, researchers, and entrepreneurs to develop cutting-edge AI models that can improve cyber fraud detection, investigation, and mitigation efforts.

The IndiaAI CyberGuard AI Hackathon will challenge participants to create sophisticated AI solutions with a focus on Natural Language Processing (NLP) models. These models will be tasked with analyzing, classifying, and enhancing the accuracy of citizen-reported cybercrime incidents on the National Cybercrime Report Portal (NCRP) platform.

The hackathon will unfold in three stages. In the first stage, participants will engage in a virtual competition spanning 20 days, during which they will work on developing an NLP model to classify fraud incidents. The top 20 teams from this stage will then proceed to the second stage, an in-person hackathon in New Delhi. Finally, the top 3 teams will have the opportunity to pilot and deploy their AI-driven cybersecurity solutions.

One of the primary objectives of the hackathon is to develop NLP models capable of accurately classifying fraud based on victim descriptions. By enhancing the accuracy of reporting and analysis on the NCRP platform, the participating teams aim to make a tangible contribution to national cybersecurity efforts and combat the increasing complexity of cybercrime.

Participants in the hackathon will have the chance to win attractive prizes, including a first prize of INR 25 lakhs and a special prize of INR 5 lakhs for all-women teams. The top three teams will also have the opportunity to pilot and deploy their AI-driven cybersecurity solutions, with the winning team receiving a contract from the government of India and its associated entities for four years.

To participate in the hackathon, interested individuals or teams must follow a series of steps outlined by IndiaAI, including signing up, applying for the challenge, and developing and submitting their prototypes within the specified timeframe. The hackathon is a unique opportunity for AI enthusiasts to contribute to India’s cybersecurity framework while fostering innovation and collaboration in the field of AI.
