Xiphera, a company specializing in hardware-based cryptographic security, has recently made a significant announcement regarding its partnership with Crypto Quantique, a provider of quantum-driven IoT device security. This collaboration aims to combine Xiphera’s nQrux® Hardware Trust Engines and quantum-secure cryptographic IP with Crypto Quantique’s QDID PUF (Physically Unclonable Function) to enhance the quantum-resilience and immutable device identity for cryptographic hardware modules.

The QDID PUF technology utilized by Crypto Quantique generates secure and unclonable identities based on unique manufacturing variations present in each semiconductor chip. This technology, along with other cryptographic primitives, plays a crucial role in establishing the hardware root-of-trust IP necessary for security implementations. On the other hand, Xiphera’s nQrux Hardware Trust Engines offer customizable cryptographic security modules with hardware-level trust and security services designed for critical environments and applications. These IP cores enable the isolation of cryptographic operations and application-specific data into secure hardware elements, providing an added layer of security.

Kimmo Järvinen, the co-founder and CTO of Xiphera, emphasized the importance of upgrading hardware components to quantum-resilient algorithms to protect against potential quantum attacks on current and future data. By integrating Crypto Quantique’s PUF technology, customers can safeguard the identities and core security of their hardware devices for the long term. Shahram Mossayebi, CEO of Crypto Quantique, highlighted the adaptability and upgradeability provided by the combination of nQrux Hardware Trust Engines and QDID for securing connected devices. The QDID technology generates random numbers on demand, eliminating the need to store cryptographic keys in flash memory and reducing the risk of side-channel memory attacks. Additionally, the PUF technology reduces the size of flash memory required for PQC algorithms, resulting in lower power consumption and saving silicon area.

The partnership between Xiphera and Crypto Quantique represents a significant step forward in the realm of hardware-based cryptographic security. By leveraging their respective expertise and technologies, the two companies are poised to address the emerging challenges posed by quantum computing and enhance the security of connected devices. To learn more about Xiphera’s nQrux Hardware Trust Engines and Crypto Quantique’s QDID IP cores, interested parties can visit their respective websites for detailed information and specifications.

In conclusion, the collaboration between Xiphera and Crypto Quantique offers a promising solution for organizations seeking to enhance the security of their hardware devices in the face of evolving cybersecurity threats. By combining cutting-edge technologies and a shared commitment to innovation, the two companies are well-positioned to meet the growing demand for quantum-resilient hardware solutions in an increasingly interconnected world.
