Symmetry Systems, a data-centric security company powered by AI, has announced a successful inside round of funding, raising $17.7 million. The funding round included participation from existing investors ForgePoint Capital and Prefix Capital, as well as new investors W11 Capital Management and TSG (The Syndicate Group), a channel-focused strategic investor. This funding will enable Symmetry Systems to further its mission of protecting the world’s data and empowering data-centric companies to grow, innovate, and lead with confidence.

Symmetry Systems recognizes the significant role that data plays in today’s world. Organizations are utilizing data for sophisticated purposes such as datalakes and generative AI. Additionally, data and identity have become the primary points of security controls in the cloud, surpassing infrastructure and applications. As a result, data-centric organizations must prioritize building security measures around data and the identities that utilize it. Symmetry Systems aims to address this need.

Co-Founder and CEO of Symmetry Systems, Mohit Tiwari, expressed his satisfaction in seeing that data flows are now central to enterprise cloud security after 15 years of research. He emphasized the importance of providing visibility into every data object, its access, and usage in order to enable safe and agile innovation within modern companies. Symmetry Systems enables data to flow securely across business units, into the cloud, and data lakes, allowing organizations to unlock their data’s potential and thrive in a remote-first, generative AI era.

By leveraging Symmetry Systems’ solutions, partners such as managed security service providers, incident response teams, and GSIs like Accenture can strengthen their customers’ data against risks and respond quickly with data-object level precision in the event of an incident. This proactive approach helps organizations ensure compliance with data security policies and regulations.

Symmetry Systems recognizes that effective data security solutions should not be limited to security experts alone. It should also be a collaborative tool for both security and business teams, including developers and data specialists. To achieve this, Symmetry Systems is developing an LLM-based natural language interface. This interface will enable even business users with limited cloud expertise to understand data-related security and compliance risks. It will provide a sequence of plain language prompts to help improve data risk iteratively.

The uniqueness of Symmetry Systems’ DataGuard solution lies in its ability to analyze data objects and identities that traditional solutions often overlook. This capability allows security teams to accurately assess the risk associated with data in their environment. Katherine Walther, VP of Innovation at Trace3, commended Symmetry DataGuard for differentiating itself in the data access governance space. She emphasized the efficiency and effectiveness it brings to meeting data security policies and compliance regulations.

The details of the funding round can be found on Symmetry Systems’ website. For more information about Symmetry Systems or its DataGuard solution, individuals can visit the company’s website.

Symmetry Systems is the industry’s first hybrid cloud data security platform, providing data protection across various cloud services and on-premise databases. With Symmetry, security and compliance teams can address threats quickly through AI-driven data security posture management (DSPM). The platform offers visibility into data risks, such as excessive permissions and anomalous data flows, while also ensuring compliance with best practices.

Founded at the Spark Research Lab in UT Austin, Symmetry Systems has gained support from leading security investors, including ForgePoint Capital, Prefix Capital, and Accenture Ventures. The company aims to deliver solutions that meet the demands of the most rigorous security teams.
