Agentic AI-powered penetration testing startup Terra Security has secured a substantial $8 million in seed funding in a recent investment round led by SYN Ventures and FXP Ventures. Additional support came from Underscore VC and a group of angel investors, showcasing strong investor confidence in the innovative cybersecurity firm.

Established in 2024, Terra has developed a cutting-edge continuous web application pen testing solution that combines agentic AI technology with a human-in-the-loop approach to enhance accuracy and reliability. The platform deploys AI agents that are specifically tailored for each organization’s unique environment and have the ability to adapt in real time, automatically carrying out tests upon the discovery of new vulnerabilities.

To assist organizations in pinpointing risks and ensuring compliance, Terra crafts customized test plans for each client, conducting extensive web application testing through a team of AI agents overseen by human experts. This dual approach of leveraging AI capabilities while maintaining human oversight sets Terra apart in the cybersecurity landscape.

With the fresh injection of funding, Terra aims to further enhance its offensive security platform by bolstering the capabilities of its AI agents and expanding its customer base. The startup has ambitious plans to incorporate an agentic AI red teaming component and broaden its platform to encompass the entire network infrastructure of its clients.

Already catering to numerous organizations, including Fortune 500 companies, Terra is confident that its solution will revolutionize the realm of penetration testing and ethical hacking. By integrating elements of accuracy, efficiency, business context, and continuous pen-testing through agentic AI, Terra envisions a future where cybersecurity measures are proactive and dynamic rather than merely reactive.

“We strongly believe that our platform will transform the narrative around pen testing and ethical hacking by infusing accuracy, efficiency, business context, and continuous pen-testing via agentic AI. No longer will pen-testing simply be viewed as an item on a compliance checklist, but as the most effective security capability of a robust security posture,” remarked Terra co-founder and CEO Shahar Peled.

The cybersecurity industry is witnessing a surge in innovative solutions and investments, as evidenced by other recent funding announcements in the sector. Companies like Cy4Data Labs, NetRise, AIceberg, and MirrorTab have also received substantial financial backing to enhance their cybersecurity offerings, reflecting the increasing importance placed on safeguarding digital assets and networks in an evolving threat landscape.

As Terra Security embarks on its next phase of growth and development, the cybersecurity community eagerly anticipates the impact of its agentic AI-powered penetration testing platform on the broader industry. With a focus on proactive defense measures and continuous testing, Terra is poised to contribute significantly to the ongoing battle against cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
