In a recent development, a cybercriminal group known as NDT SEC has released a list of nine banks on the dark web, claiming that they are potential targets for cyber attacks. These banks are located in Thailand and are believed to be part of an ongoing campaign called OpThailand. The existence of this cyber attack claim was revealed on the Telegram page of the NDT SEC hackers.
Not much is known about the NDT SEC group, as it is speculated to be relatively new. However, their actions have caught the attention of cybersecurity experts and authorities. As of now, the targeted banks have not confirmed any cyber attacks.
The list of banks named by the NDT SEC group includes Krungthai Bank, Kasikorn Bank, Siam Commercial Bank, Government Savings Bank, Bank of Ayudhya, Thai Military Bank, Land & Houses Bank, United Overseas Bank, and Cimb Bank. At the time of writing this article, the websites of all these banks were accessible. The Cyber Express reached out to these organizations for confirmation of the alleged cyber attacks but has yet to receive any response.
The fact that the cyber attacks on Thai banks were claimed under the #OpThailand campaign suggests that the NDT SEC group either has motives rooted in a cause or is piggybacking on earlier campaigns that used the same hashtag. It is important to note that the group has been active on their Telegram channel, claiming responsibility for several attacks on organizations based in Thailand.
In a separate incident, the NDT SEC hackers claimed to possess 1GB of data from the Mega Planet cyber attack. This data allegedly includes details about users, emails, passwords, and admin login credentials. Additionally, the hackers also stated that they have obtained project details from the cyber attack. However, the website of Mega Planet was inaccessible at the time of writing, displaying a message indicating that it is “under construction.” This alleged security breach was also linked to the OpThailand campaign and mentioned the involvement of the hacker group Anonymous Cambodia.
The joint hacking done by the NDT SEC hackers and the Anonymous Cambodia group was reflected in a screenshot tweeted by Falcon Feeds. The post was about an alleged cyber attack on Song Phi Nong Municipality, but the website was not accessible for verification by The Cyber Express team.
