Toshiba America Business Solutions recently disclosed a potential data security breach that has raised concerns regarding the compromise of personal information of individuals. The company, a subsidiary of Toshiba TEC Corporation, took proactive steps by notifying customers and regulatory authorities about the incident. Emphasizing its commitment to safeguarding personal data, Toshiba offered credit monitoring services to those affected by the breach.

According to Toshiba’s preliminary investigation, an unauthorized party gained access to the company’s email system, potentially exposing sensitive personally identifiable information such as names and Social Security numbers. This breach affected a significant number of individuals, prompting Toshiba to reach out to those impacted by the incident. The company advised customers to remain vigilant by monitoring their credit reports, financial statements, and payment card activities for any signs of unauthorized transactions.

In response to the breach, Toshiba expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and assured customers that additional security measures have been implemented to prevent similar incidents in the future. To further support affected individuals in protecting their personal information, Toshiba arranged for a two-year complimentary membership of identity monitoring services through Kroll. This membership includes features like triple bureau credit monitoring, fraud consultation, and identity theft restoration.

The fraud consultation service offers customers access to Kroll fraud specialists for guidance on protecting their identity, understanding legal rights, and addressing suspicious activities. In case of identity theft, the identity theft restoration service provides the assistance of licensed investigators to resolve issues on behalf of the affected individuals without affecting their credit scores. Toshiba encouraged those impacted by the breach to utilize these services and reach out to Toshiba or Kroll for additional support.

In light of the data breach, Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a data breach law firm, announced its investigation into Toshiba American Business Solutions, Inc. to probe the exposure of sensitive personally identifiable information. While the full extent of the breach remains unclear, Toshiba America Business Solutions operates offices across the U.S. and Latin America. The law firm advised individuals who received breach notification letters from Toshiba American Business Solutions to contact Strauss Borrelli PLLC to discuss their legal rights and potential remedies.

As the investigation unfolds, affected individuals are advised to stay informed about the situation and take proactive steps to protect their personal information. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of data security and the need for robust measures to safeguard sensitive information from unauthorized access.
