Veer Chetal Arrested in $243M Cryptocurrency Theft

Veer Chetal Arrested in 3M Cryptocurrency Theft

In a significant turn of events, Veer Chetal, also known as “Wiz,” was apprehended by U.S. Marshals in March 2025, marking the third arrest in connection to a major cryptocurrency heist. Alongside his accomplices, Greavys (Malone Lam) and Box (Jeandiel Serrano), Wiz played a pivotal role in orchestrating a $243 million attack targeting a Genesis creditor.

The trio employed sophisticated social engineering tactics to carry out the heist, including the use of spoofed phone numbers and fake support calls to deceive their victim into transferring funds and resetting their two-factor authentication. The culmination of their efforts resulted in a single transfer of 4064 BTC, amounting to a staggering $238 million, which took place in the early hours of February 21, 2024.

Wiz, whose full name was exposed during the theft through a screen share, was identified as Veer in multiple recordings, ultimately leading to his arrest. Investigator ZachXBT shared Veer Chetal’s mugshot online, confirming his apprehension by U.S. Marshals. If found guilty of the charges related to the heist, Wiz could potentially face a lengthy prison sentence.

The arrest of Wiz comes on the heels of the capture of his partners in crime, Greavys and Box, who were detained in September 2024. Malone Lam, aka Greavys, and Jeandiel Serrano, also known as Box, were charged with conspiracy to steal and launder cryptocurrency. It was revealed that Lam had splurged on luxury items, including a collection of high-end vehicles and designer goods, using the ill-gotten funds. The stolen money was subsequently laundered via XMR, with both Box and Wiz committing critical errors by intertwining the laundered funds with the stolen proceeds.

Further investigations unveiled that over $9 million of the stolen funds had been frozen, with a portion returned to the victim. Lam, who poses a flight risk, faces a litany of charges related to wire fraud and money laundering, potentially carrying a maximum prison term of 20 years. The probe remains ongoing, with a substantial portion of the pilfered Bitcoin still unaccounted for, while authorities strive to seize the luxury assets associated with the perpetrators.

The intricate web of deception spun by Veer Chetal, Greavys, and Box in the elaborate cryptocurrency heist has unraveled, culminating in their arrests and the subsequent unraveling of their illicit activities. The reverberations of their nefarious scheme continue to ripple through the digital currency realm, serving as a cautionary tale for those tempted to engage in cybercrime. As the legal process unfolds, the cryptocurrency community awaits the resolution of this high-profile case, hoping for justice to be served and restitution to be made to the victims of this audacious heist.
