A new AI safety platform startup, WitnessAI, has emerged from stealth with the aim of addressing major barriers that organizations face when it comes to adopting AI technologies. The platform is designed to help enterprises use AI safely and effectively by providing solutions for AI privacy, governance, and security.

One of the main reasons why organizations are hesitant to fully embrace AI is the lack of visibility, control, and protection that comes with it. WitnessAI seeks to fill this gap by offering a Secure AI Enablement Platform that focuses on observability of AI use, policy enforcement and governance of AI use, and protection of employees, customers, and enterprise data from AI-related risks.

The platform is set to be deployed as an isolated, cloud-based instance for each customer, with data encryption and unique keys to ensure data privacy and regulatory compliance. By monitoring activity between users and large language models (LLMs), WitnessAI can apply control policies and safeguard data. The company is currently collaborating with more than 20 design partners and is gearing up for early deployments in June 2024.

To support its mission, WitnessAI has secured $27.5 million in funding from Ballistic Ventures and GV Management. The startup was founded and incubated in 2023 by Ballistic Ventures, showcasing a strong backing from investors who believe in the potential of the platform to shape the future of AI governance and security.

The growing consensus within the industry is that the widespread adoption of AI necessitates a robust governance framework to manage the unique security challenges that AI presents. WitnessAI’s approach to addressing these challenges through its Secure AI Enablement Platform is a step in the right direction towards establishing best practices for AI usage in enterprise environments.

As AI continues to proliferate across industries, the importance of implementing comprehensive security measures cannot be understated. WitnessAI’s solution offers a promising avenue for organizations looking to harness the power of AI while safeguarding against potential risks and vulnerabilities.

With the support of its investors and a solid strategy in place, WitnessAI is poised to make a significant impact in the field of AI security and governance. As more organizations realize the critical need for effective AI management, platforms like WitnessAI will play a vital role in shaping the future of AI adoption and ensuring its responsible use across various sectors.
