A new cybersecurity startup called Zest Security is revolutionizing the way organizations tackle cloud risks by introducing an AI-powered platform that simplifies and automates risk resolution. While many tools exist to identify cloud vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and risks, the process of remediation often involves time-consuming manual steps and significant collaboration between DevOps and security teams.
According to Zest Security, it typically takes organizations 30-60 days to remediate a single cloud security risk, and even after resolving these risks, 80% of them resurface. This cycle of identifying and remediating risks only to have them reappear highlights the inefficiencies in current remediation processes.
To address this issue, Zest Security’s platform analyzes and correlates data to pinpoint the root cause of cloud risks and then suggests tailored resolution paths to eliminate vulnerabilities and misconfigurations that could be exploited by attackers. By streamlining this process, Zest aims to help organizations resolve their security issues more quickly and effectively.
Matthew Hurewitz, director of platforms and application security at Best Buy, praised Zest Security’s approach, saying, “Zest eliminates the back-and-forth typically required between security and DevOps teams to determine the best path to mitigation and remediation. Zest shows security teams all of their options so they can quickly and confidently resolve their vulnerabilities.”
As part of its official launch, Zest Security secured $5 million in seed funding from investors including Hanaco Ventures, Silvertech Ventures, and various angel investors. The company’s co-founders bring years of experience in cloud and product security to the table. Uri Aronovici, Zest’s CTO, previously held positions at Akamai Technologies and Check Point Software, while CEO Snir Ben Shimol led the global cyber security platform and services organization at Varonis before founding Zest. Shimol also served as the Chief Security Officer of Cider Security prior to its acquisition by Palo Alto Networks.
