Zscaler, a global cybersecurity leader, has partnered with Panjab University to launch the CopConnect Cyber Wellness Clinic in Chandigarh. This clinic, located at Panjab University’s South Campus, Sector-25, aims to provide essential cyber first aid, education, and support to victims of cybercrime.

Through this collaboration, Zscaler is leveraging its expertise in cloud-based cybersecurity to empower students and faculty with the necessary knowledge and tools to combat cyber threats effectively. The launch of the Cyber Wellness Clinic signifies Zscaler’s commitment to creating a safe digital ecosystem and extending its reach beyond corporate enterprises to academic institutions.

Ms. Karishma Bhuyan, who leads social impact initiatives at Zscaler, emphasized the importance of providing cybercrime first aid to victims in the immediate aftermath of an incident. The Cyber Wellness Clinic has trained 125 faculty members and students as Cyber Crime First Responders (CCFRs) who will offer timely assistance and guidance to individuals affected by cyber fraud.

The clinic functions as a dedicated center for cybersecurity support, addressing various aspects of digital safety such as cybercrime victim assistance, cybercrime first responders, a hacked or not kiosk, cyber helpline support, and workshops and awareness programs. These initiatives aim to equip the community with the necessary skills and knowledge to mitigate cyber risks effectively.

The Cyber Wellness Clinic at Panjab University is part of a larger cybersecurity movement that originated in Bengaluru in May 2024. Similar clinics have been established in Mysuru, Mangaluru, Delhi, and Chandigarh, with plans to open another center at NITTTR Chandigarh in the future. This initiative is not just about creating a physical space but also building a community of cyber warriors committed to safeguarding digital environments and promoting cybersecurity best practices.

Zscaler, founded in 2007 by Jay Chaudhry, has played a pivotal role in transforming cybersecurity with its cloud-native Zero Trust Exchange platform. The company, headquartered in San Jose, California, is globally recognized for its secure digital transformation solutions. With a strong presence in India, Zscaler operates offices in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Mohali, and Pune, employing nearly 3,000 professionals in the region.

As cyber threats continue to evolve, proactive initiatives like the Cyber Wellness Clinic are crucial in enhancing digital awareness, victim support, and security education. By collaborating with academic institutions like Panjab University, Zscaler is not only spreading cybersecurity awareness but also grooming the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.

With Panjab University actively participating in this cybersecurity movement, a united effort involving students, faculty, and law enforcement experts is underway to shape a safe and resilient digital future for all. The Cyber Wellness Clinic serves as a beacon of hope in the fight against cybercrime, emphasizing the importance of collective action and knowledge-sharing in combating digital threats.
