Check Point Software Technologies Launches Firewall-as-a-Subscription to Enhance Accessibility of Network Security

Check Point Software Technologies has recently unveiled an innovative offering known as Firewall-as-a-Subscription. This initiative aims to enhance the accessibility of advanced AI-driven network security solutions for organizations, eliminating the necessity for substantial upfront hardware investments. By adopting this subscription model, companies can streamline their cybersecurity measures while managing tight budgets—a challenge that has become increasingly prevalent in the current economic climate.

The essence of the Firewall-as-a-Subscription service allows businesses to utilize Check Point’s Force Firewalls, cutting-edge AI-enabled threat prevention mechanisms, and intelligent security management functionalities. This service is structured to facilitate predictable monthly or annual payments, relieving organizations from the stress of a large initial capital outlay. In a time when cybersecurity budgets are often constricted, this model presents an opportunity for organizations to modernize their security infrastructures effectively.

This strategic announcement coincides with a broader concern among businesses regarding financial constraints imposed by rising inflation and escalating borrowing costs. According to data from the IANS Research and Artico Search 2026 Security Budget Benchmark, the median budget allocated for cybersecurity has remained static this year. A significant 55% of Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) reported either flat or declining budgets. Despite 64% of these leaders seeking additional funding, only 45% managed to secure an increase. Such financial limitations come at a time when the necessity for robust cybersecurity measures is most critical, especially with the acceleration of AI technologies introducing complex challenges in the security domain.

These challenges encompass the urgent need to analyze AI-generated traffic, safeguard AI applications, and monitor autonomous agents operating within organizational networks. Recognizing this pressing demand, Check Point’s Firewall-as-a-Subscription aims to mitigate these risks by providing advanced security capabilities through an accessible subscription framework. This aligns with the organization’s previous product enhancements, including the R82.20 release announced in July 2026, which introduced features enabling the inspection of AI traffic and the protection of AI infrastructures at the network layer.

Organizations subscribing to this service will gain access to Check Point Force Firewalls, with pricing and capacity tailored to each organization’s specific threat prevention throughput requirements. Additionally, the subscription includes AI-based threat prevention tools, such as SandBlast technology, which boasts an impressive 99.9% block rate against zero-day threats. These features are complemented by Live Updates, ensuring security enhancements can be implemented without necessitating reboots or downtime—a crucial consideration for maintaining seamless business operations.

The subscription package also comprises Smart-1, a cloud-based agentic management system, along with comprehensive 24/7 premium support and professional services credits designed to assist organizations in transitioning their firewall policies from other providers. This flexibility is particularly advantageous as it allows companies to increase their firewall throughput in alignment with evolving security needs. Furthermore, after three years, customers have the option to transition to new hardware, supporting their long-term technological growth.

Pete Finalle, Research Manager for Security and Trust at IDC, emphasized the increasing demand for flexible purchasing models in security solutions. He pointed out that organizations, regardless of size, are confronting identical AI-driven threats, yet limited capital budget cycles often hinder progress in firewall updates. Finalle asserted that consumption models transforming on-premises security hardware into predictable operating expenses can greatly assist organizations in scaling their protective measures as their requirements expand.

The subscription model not only serves the needs of end-user organizations but also creates potential avenues for channel partners. These partners can support customers in advancing firewall refresh initiatives that may have been stalled due to financial constraints.

Avi Rembaum, President of Global Technical Sales at Check Point Software Technologies, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering top-tier AI security solutions. He stated, “Every organization is adopting AI, and every organization deserves the same level of protection, regardless of its size or budget.”

With the introduction of Firewall-as-a-Subscription, Check Point aims to democratize access to premier AI security and threat prevention technology. This new approach will be available starting November 1, 2026, through Check Point’s partner network, featuring both monthly and annual payment arrangements. This initiative signifies a pivotal shift in cybersecurity procurement, enabling organizations to safeguard their transition to AI technologies efficiently and effectively.
