The United States Cyber Games program Season IV is underway to tackle the critical shortage of well-qualified cyber talent in the country. The program aims to attract students to computer science programs and provide practical, hands-on experience with current and emerging technologies through cybersecurity competitions and games. These competitions are designed to support traditional academic pathways while engaging new and diverse populations to learn more about the field, develop skills, gain valuable experience, and establish connections with industry professionals.

One of the upcoming events in the cybersecurity domain is the SANS Security East New Orleans 2024, which offers participants a choice of 41 interactive courses with hands-on labs. The event provides an opportunity to practice skills, compete in NetWars Tournaments, and network with instructors and industry colleagues in real-time. Each course includes electronic and printed books, and several courses align with GIAC certifications.

In a bid to foster a conducive learning environment, the Spring 2024 CISSP Study Group presented by ISSA Central MD is offering a program that allows participants to better absorb and understand the material. The study group aims to make information more useful and easier to interpret by encouraging active learning over cramming. Attendees have the option to join sessions either in-person in Columbia, MD, or virtually online.

Moreover, the Trellix Public Sector Cybersecurity Summit in Washington, DC, on February 27, 2024, will bring together top technology leaders from across the public sector to discuss emerging topics in cybersecurity. With the constant threat of sophisticated cyber attacks faced by public sector organizations, the summit will delve into new cybersecurity mandates, executive orders, and the latest security capabilities such as machine learning, AI, and predictive analytics. Participants will engage in conversations about ransomware, zero trust, global security, XDR, and how AI will intersect with public sector cybersecurity.

Additionally, the SANS Las Vegas 2024 event in Nevada, scheduled for March 4 – 9, 2024, offers participants the chance to choose from 41 interactive courses with hands-on labs. Attendees will have the opportunity to practice skills, compete in NetWars Tournaments, and network with instructors and industry colleagues in real-time. Each course includes electronic and printed books, and several courses align with GIAC certifications.

The cybersecurity landscape is constantly evolving, and events like these play a crucial role in equipping professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to combat cyber threats effectively. By providing practical experience, fostering learning environments, and facilitating networking opportunities, these events contribute to closing the workforce gap and strengthening the cybersecurity resilience of organizations in the United States.
