Bengaluru-based actress Rashmika Mandanna has been appointed as the national brand ambassador for the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), an initiative of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India aimed at combating cyber crimes. This appointment comes after Rashmika herself became a victim of a deepfake video that was circulated online last year, sparking widespread discussions about digital safety and the need for increased awareness around cyber crimes.

In her new role as the ambassador for I4C, Rashmika will lead nationwide cyber awareness campaigns focused on educating the public about various forms of cyber crimes, including deepfake technology, malicious AI-created content, cyber bullying, financial frauds, and other online scams. With a massive following of 44.2 million on Instagram and 4.9 million on X, Rashmika’s influence and reach are expected to significantly amplify the message of cyber safety and security.

Cyber Dost, the cyber safety and security awareness handle managed by the MHA, expressed their excitement about having Rashmika on board as the national brand ambassador for I4C. In a post on X, they stated, “Excited to have the pan-India star @iamRashmika as I4C’s National Brand Ambassador. We are collaborating to strengthen India’s digital landscape and combat cybercrimes effectively.”

Reflecting on her own experience with cybercrime, Rashmika shared, “Sometime back, my deepfake video was circulated on social media, highlighting the prevalence of cyber crimes. After this incident, I felt compelled to take a stand against cybercrime and raise awareness. I am grateful for the support from the Indian government in this endeavor. Cyber criminals target individuals in various ways, and as the brand ambassador of I4C, I am committed to spreading awareness and preventing cyber crimes.”

The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) was established by the Ministry of Home Affairs to create a robust framework and ecosystem for law enforcement agencies to address cyber crime in a coordinated and comprehensive manner. By appointing Rashmika Mandanna as the national brand ambassador, the initiative aims to leverage her popularity and influence to effectively communicate the importance of cyber safety and security to the general public.

In a world where cyber threats are becoming increasingly complex and pervasive, the role of ambassadors like Rashmika Mandanna in raising awareness and promoting safe online practices is crucial. Through her involvement with I4C, Rashmika will play a key role in empowering individuals to protect themselves against cyber threats and contribute to building a safer digital environment for all.

As India continues to navigate the challenges posed by cyber crimes, the appointment of Rashmika Mandanna as the national brand ambassador for I4C signifies a proactive step towards enhancing cyber awareness and strengthening the country’s defense against online threats. With her passion for creating a safer digital space, Rashmika is poised to make a significant impact in the fight against cyber crimes and protect individuals from falling victim to malicious online activities.
