The death of a 48-year-old teacher in Agra due to a heart attack caused by a distressing phone call from a fake police officer has left the family seeking justice as they claim that police progress in the investigation has been lacking. The incident took place 15 days ago when Malti Verma, a teacher at the Govt Girls Junior High School in Achnera, received a call from a man posing as a police officer on a social media platform. The caller falsely alleged that her daughter was involved in a sex scandal and demanded a sum of 1 lakh from her. This misleading and terrifying call led to Malti’s deteriorating health upon her return home, ultimately resulting in her untimely death.

The grieving family of the deceased has expressed their frustration over the slow progress of the investigation by the police. They have raised concerns about the delay in arresting the perpetrators behind this heinous crime. The family filed a case against unknown cyber criminals in hopes of seeking justice for their lost loved one. Deepanshu, Malti’s son, has been actively pursuing the case and has visited the police station multiple times following his mother’s tragic demise.

The police, on the other hand, have been working on tracing the numbers used by the cyber criminals involved in this scam. The investigation has revealed that the phone numbers used by the perpetrators trace back to locations in West Bengal and Delhi. Despite this information, the police have only been able to gather limited details and have not yet identified any suspects in connection to the case. Messages were also sent from these numbers to three spam numbers, further complicating the investigation process.

DCP (City) Suraj Rai has shed light on the modus operandi of cyber criminals who often use fake identities to acquire SIM cards and open online accounts for fraudulent activities. A specialized team has been assigned to delve deeper into the case, with a particular focus on the originating number from West Bengal. DCP Rai has assured the public that efforts are being made to track down the individuals responsible for perpetrating this criminal act, instilling a sense of hope in the quest for justice for Malti Verma and her family.

The tragic loss of Malti Verma has not only shaken her family but has also raised concerns about the prevalence of cyber crimes and scams targeting innocent individuals. The need for stringent measures to combat such criminal activities and protect vulnerable members of society has been underscored by this heartbreaking incident. It serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by online fraudsters and the importance of vigilance in safeguarding personal information against malicious intents.

As the investigation continues and efforts are being intensified to apprehend the culprits responsible for Malti Verma’s death, the family and the community at large await justice with bated breath. The case serves as a poignant reminder of the devastating consequences of cyber crimes and the urgent need for comprehensive measures to prevent such tragedies from recurring in the future. The pursuit of justice for Malti Verma remains a top priority, as her family seeks closure and resolution in the wake of this senseless and tragic loss.
