Alleged Hosocongty Data Breach Reveals Information of Vietnamese Job Seekers

In recent news, a dark web hacker, operating under the alias “makishimaaaa,” has made a startling revelation on the Nuovo BreachForums. The hacker claims to have orchestrated a significant data breach involving Hosocongty, a well-known Vietnamese job search platform. The data breach, which allegedly occurred in 2024, resulted in the theft of a PII (Personally Identifiable Information) database containing approximately 160,000 records.

According to the hacker’s post dated May 12, 2024, the compromised database is up for sale at the price of $320. The contents of the database include sensitive information such as company names, passwords, contact details, and various personal identifiers. Interested buyers are advised to contact the hacker privately, with the option of utilizing escrow systems for transactions.

Hosocongty.vn, the platform at the center of this breach, plays a crucial role in connecting job seekers with potential employers across Vietnam. The platform’s popularity and rapid growth underscore its importance in the country’s job market. However, the recent data breach has raised serious concerns about the security and privacy of the platform’s users.

It is worth noting that makishimaaaa’s relatively low ransom demand and status as a new member of the hacking forum indicate a developing situation. The hacker only joined the platform in March 2024 and has already made 38 posts, suggesting a strategic approach to minimize suspicion and maximize profits from the stolen data.

The database compromised in this breach contains a plethora of personal information, including company details, contact numbers, email addresses, and more. Makishimaaaa has emphasized the quality and reliability of the data to potential buyers. However, the moral and ethical implications of purchasing stolen data remain a significant cause for concern.

Despite efforts to obtain more information about the Hosocongty data breach, The Cyber Express has been unable to secure an official statement or response from the recruitment firm involved. As a result, the claims regarding the data leak remain unverified at this time.

The incident involving Hosocongty is not an isolated case in the recruitment sector. Cyberattacks targeting job placement agencies and employment platforms have been on the rise, as evidenced by a recent attack on Das Team Ag in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The vulnerability of recruitment platforms to cyber threats underscores the need for enhanced security measures across industries.

Various cyber threats such as polymorphic attacks, phishing, and malware pose risks to both job seekers and companies utilizing recruitment platforms. It is crucial for users of Hosocongty and similar platforms to exercise caution and implement robust security measures to protect their personal information.

As the situation regarding the Hosocongty data breach unfolds, The Cyber Express will continue to closely monitor developments and provide updates as more information becomes available. Stay tuned for further updates on this evolving story.
