CII Jharkhand Workshop on Cyber Security Highlights Importance of Business Security

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Jharkhand, organized a workshop focusing on Cyber Security titled “Ensuring Business Security in the Modern Era,” attracting industry leaders, cybersecurity professionals, and stakeholders to discuss the urgent need for heightened cybersecurity measures in today’s digital landscape.

Diloo Parikh, Chairman of CII Jamshedpur Zonal Council and Managing Director of Vaidehi Motors Pvt Ltd, highlighted the significant growth in the adoption of digital technologies by Indian businesses. He emphasized how technological advancements have enabled businesses, especially Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), to improve efficiency and expand their global reach.

Sarajit Jha, Convenor of CII Jharkhand ICT, Startup, and Innovation Panel, and Chief Business Transformation and Business Solutions at TATA Steel, drew attention to the alarming rise of global cyber fraud, now a $300 billion industry. He pointed out that 40% of global digital transactions happen in India, making cybersecurity a critical priority. Jha stressed the importance of raising awareness, particularly among MSMEs, as a crucial countermeasure against evolving cyber threats.

Shivam Kamani, Co-Convenor of CII ICT, Startup, and Innovation Panel, and Associate President at Sparx Technologies Pvt Ltd, expressed concerns about the increasing cybercrime threat facing individuals and corporations. He noted the prevalence of internet-connected tasks, with 99% of activities involving some online component. Kamani cited cases where MSMEs suffered significant losses due to cybersecurity negligence and praised CII for organizing workshops to address this pressing need.

The workshop offered participants the opportunity to interact with cybersecurity professionals, engage in group activities, and gain insights into best practices in the cybersecurity field. Distinguished speakers, including Mrinal K Pal, Chief IT Infra, Network, and Cybersecurity at Tata Steel Ltd; Bhargo Dev Chakraborty, Network and IT Security Consultant at Skylink Communications; and Vidya Shankar, DSP (Cyber Crime) at Jamshedpur, shared their expertise on strengthening cybersecurity frameworks and effectively combating cyber threats.

The CII Jharkhand Workshop on Cyber Security served as a pivotal platform for industry stakeholders to enhance their understanding of cybersecurity challenges and solutions in the modern business environment. By promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing, the event emphasized the need for collective action to enhance India’s cybersecurity posture and protect businesses from evolving cyber threats.
