Additionally, criminal misuse of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) to evade arrest or judicial orders grew by 23%, while attempted misuse of financial accounts saw an 11% increase.

Lee emphasized the importance of organizational vigilance in the face of evolving threats, noting that all organizations, regardless of size, are potential targets for identity crimes. Safeguarding data is imperative, as any breach could result in significant organizational repercussions. In a video interview with Information Security Media Group, Lee discussed the persistent threat of scams utilizing Google Voice numbers, the correlation between data breaches and identity crimes, and the necessity for organizations to educate and empower employees to combat social engineering attacks.
