The hacking incident of the Supreme Court’s YouTube channel has come to an end as the channel has been restored and is now live. The channel was temporarily disabled after hackers gained access and started live-streaming videos promoting a cryptocurrency from a US-based company. The hackers even went as far as changing the channel’s name to “Ripple” and making other live-streamed hearings private.

The Supreme Court released a statement confirming that the YouTube channel is now back up and running. The court’s e-initiative measures, which include live-streaming proceedings of the Constitution Bench on YouTube, have been resumed. This initiative was put in place to increase transparency and accessibility of judicial hearings, allowing citizens from all over the country to witness the Supreme Court proceedings.

In a previous case in 2018, the Supreme Court favored live streaming proceedings in important cases, leading to the decision to live-stream Constitution bench hearings. This move was aimed at providing citizens with the opportunity to observe and understand the judicial process more closely. Additionally, during the pandemic, the Chief Justice of India announced plans to set up cloud software for video conferencing in lower courts for virtual hearings.

The Supreme Court’s decision to implement live streaming of proceedings and utilize advanced technology like artificial intelligence and natural language processing for live transcription highlights a step towards modernizing the judicial system and making it more accessible to the public. The recent hacking incident, although disruptive, serves as a reminder of the importance of cybersecurity in the digital age.

It is evident that the Supreme Court is taking proactive measures to adapt to the changing times and ensure that the justice system remains functional and transparent. The restoration of the YouTube channel after the hacking incident exemplifies the resilience of the judicial system in the face of cyber threats. With the continued use of technology and innovative solutions, the Supreme Court is striving to uphold the principles of justice and democracy in the modern world.

Overall, the incident serves as a wake-up call for the Supreme Court and other institutions to bolster their cybersecurity measures and stay vigilant against potential threats. By learning from this experience and implementing robust security protocols, the Supreme Court can continue to provide efficient and transparent services to the citizens of India.
