In a recent statement, Diego Panama, the newly appointed CEO of LogicGate, emphasized the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in the realms of application configuration and governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) workflows. He pointed out that AI agents can significantly reduce the manual workload that traditionally burdened practitioners, thereby facilitating a more streamlined interaction with critical GRC information.

Panama asserted that contemporary GRC technology could replace outdated, fragmented processes, such as those involving spreadsheets and legacy systems, with more cohesive and efficient workflows. He highlighted that many of the largest enterprises continue to cling to these outdated methods, hampering their ability to manage GRC programs effectively.

“GRC is experiencing a transformative moment,” Panama stated during an interview with Information Security Media Group (ISMG). He expressed that the focus on risk and compliance is no longer an isolated function but has evolved into a crucial element of strategic discussions at the board level. This shift underlines the growing recognition of the importance of GRC processes in influencing business decisions.

LogicGate, which was established in 2015, currently employs 251 individuals and has raised a substantial $156 million in funding. The company’s latest funding round, a Series C round worth $113 million, was completed in July 2021, led by PSG. Panama took the helm of LogicGate in July 2026, succeeding Matt Kunkel, who was instrumental in founding the organization in Chicago.

Strategic Development for Large Enterprises

As Panama began his leadership tenure, he noted that Kunkel would continue to play a vital role as executive chairman, focusing on nurturing relationships with key customers and partners. Panama intends to leverage Kunkel’s extensive expertise in governance, risk, and compliance while concentrating on scaling the business. The dual leadership aims to create a more effective division of responsibilities that combines Kunkel’s experience with Panama’s vision for expanding LogicGate’s market presence.

“Our mission is to evolve into a platform capable of serving the world’s largest enterprises, while also maximizing the potential of AI to benefit our customers,” Panama explained. To this end, he cited LogicGate’s recent initiative of providing round-the-clock support as a direct response to the needs of global clients.

Panama underscored the necessity of careful resource allocation to enhance the platform’s overall performance. “While the platform offers numerous features, reliability and speed are paramount,” he remarked, urging the need for engineering teams to focus on maintaining robust foundational elements rather than solely developing new features or agentic AI capabilities.

The GRC landscape varies significantly across organizations, where responsibilities might shift between roles such as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), compliance officers, and legal departments. This variance often complicates the implementation of cohesive GRC strategies. Panama noted that the most significant challenge for clients is not merely choosing the right technology but managing the internal organizational changes necessary to establish an effective GRC program.

“The primary obstacle observed in our clients is not related to technology; rather, it’s about coordinating internal change management to create a world-class GRC program,” Panama highlighted. This insight reflects the complex interplay of various functions within organizations that must collaborate to ensure successful GRC implementation.

Empowering Customers to Optimize Applications

Originally, LogicGate designed a proprietary AI agent, now known as Config Newton, to optimize its own internal processes. However, as clients expressed interest, the company is now empowering them to directly interact with the agent for designing and modifying applications, which significantly minimizes the manual configuration previously required.
